This Cincinnati homeowner asked us to replace 40 square feet of water damaged flooring in the bathroom. Then we refinished the hardwood in the kitchen and dining room with a rich espresso colored stain coated with a semi-gloss Bona finish.

Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process
1) Sanding to Raw Wood
The sanding stage removes stains, scratches, minor damage, and the old coat of polyurethane from your hardwood floors. It can get dusty, and there is no truly "dust-free" method to sand floors.
We're meticulous about protecting your belongings, cleaning up, and use the highest quality equipment and processes possible to keep the dust to a minimum. Our dust containment system is cleaner, healthier, and faster than traditional sanding methods.
Depending on the condition of your flooring, sanding can be a three-part process:
- First, the rough cut levels the surface and removes the old finish.
- Next, a grain cut removes existing scratches, stains, or other blemishes.
- Last, we buff the floor to smooth the surface in preparation for staining and sealing.
2) Finishing the Surface
Now we apply a fresh coat of polyurethane. We use a high-quality, low-VOC, waterborne product like Bona to achieve high shine, rich color, slip resistance, and durability.
- You can adjust the color of your flooring by choosing between a clear or colored finish.
- It helps protect from things like water damage and fading. It also slows down wear-and-tear to help prevent scratches and stains.
Choose between a matte finish for a more rustic look or a glossy finish for that magazine-quality "shiny hardwood floor" look.

Hardwood Floor Installation Process

1) Choose Your Flooring
When you hire us to install your hardwood, our flooring product partner contacts you directly to schedule an appointment at their showroom.
You'll get expert guidance choosing the best hardwood flooring for your home. Hardwood comes in a range of varieties that includes traditional oak, maple, and ash as well as more exotic styles such as Ipe, Cumaru, and Tigerwood.
Next, your consultant will coordinate a time with you (possibly right after your showroom visit) to take measurements back at your house.

2) Preparation and Installation
We pass on our wholesale pricing to you, and arrange for the materials to be delivered to your home.
One of our installers will arrive as scheduled. There may be some demolition (such as removing carpet), and he will perform carpentry, repairs, and preparation of the subfloor, as applicable.
Hardwood floor installation is an art, and we're pleased to have talented artists on our team. We cut, align, and position the wood planks for the best durability and a gorgeous appearance.
No two hardwood floors are alike. You'll enjoy a perfectly unique and stunning new floor.

All of these pictures feature a combination of Ebony stain color and Bona Oil floor finish. The rich, deep tones of Ebony create a dramatic backdrop, while the Bona Oil finish enhances the natural grain and provides a lustrous, long-lasting sheen.
Notice, however, that each picture boasts a different style and character of wood. Ebony is our most popular color in greater Cincinnati homes.
