Kitchen Cabinet Painting Project in Liberty Township
Our Liberty Township homeowners described a detailed kitchen makeover wish list to our cabinet painters. Jim and his team knew Cincinnati Cabinet Refinishing could accomplish everything they were dreaming of at an affordable price.
During the design process, we collaborated with Make Her Mark. Todd and Traci are talented interior designers in the Cincinnati area who partner with you to provide a personalized plan of action for your space.
The Goal of the Kitchen Redesign
Our client's solid brick home is located in the Four Bridges neighborhood of Liberty Township. Built in 2000, the kitchen cabinet color trend back then was a dark stain, like maple or cherry, to contrast with the rise of stainless steel appliances. But together with hardwood floors, the kitchen felt overwhelming in its traditionalism.

2K Poly Cabinet Paint
A Kitchen Color Palette that Enhances a Light to Dark Contrast
This kitchen makeover called for an elegant, timeless cabinet color change that extended to a nearby study area and the laundry room. We used the best cabinet paint, Enduro Tintable 2K Poly, which offers superior durability, washability, and an ultra-sleek shine.
The homeowners selected Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore for the kitchen island, kitchen cabinets, the range hood, study area, and laundry room cabinet. Technically, Iron Ore is a shade of black. However, with a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 6, it exhibits a soft charcoal or cinder-colored charm.
Brightness and Balance
White was the natural complementary color, and in fact, black and white kitchens are a timeless design favorite.
We used vibrant Pure White (SW 7005) to match the strong energy of Iron Ore. Now the white granite countertops and white tile backsplash really pop!
And the exquisite hardwood floor that seemed to disappear when the cabinets were stained, now infuse the space with sophistication and a natural allure.
Iron Ore, SW 7069, has green undertones which adds a subtle coolness to the cabinet color, and contrasts beautifully with the depth and warmth of the floors.
Function and Fashion Combined
Functional additions to the kitchen included:
- a Lazy Susan in the cabinet
- a dedicated garbage cabinet with trash can slider module
- the new range hood
The hardware was upgraded with attractive new handles and drawer pulls, personally selected by the homeowners.
And the magic touch comes from Blum soft close hinges that silently and gently close cabinet doors.
No more worries about the kids getting their little fingers slammed when reaching in for their favorite cereal!
Our Encore Act: Whole-House Interior Painting
Four months later we returned with our skilled carpentry and paint crews for interior painting of this 4,500 square foot home.
The scope of the project included drywall repair, followed by painting all rooms and ceilings with SW 7008 Alabaster. This cozy white paint color looks brilliant with the hardwood floors, and almost magically adapts to every room.
We used an eggshell finish on the walls with a standard white latex on the crown molding, baseboards, window casings, chair rails, door frames, and the living room fireplace mantle.
